A track day only version of the Ford GT, the GT Mk II, was launched on 4 July 2019 at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, named in tribute to the GT40 Mk II that won Le Mans in 1966. A blue and orange Gulf Oil livery Heritage Edition honored the GT40 victories of 1968 and 1969. Ford sold it in small numbers to collectors, and it was built by specialist firms under contract rather than at Ford's own assembly plants. The Ford GT was a mid engine two seat sports car, styled in the spirit of the GT40 racing car of the 1960s.
