The 2018 Ford GT carried on with the 3.5 litre twin turbo EcoBoost V6, and a '67 Heritage Edition in race red with number one graphics honored the GT40 Mk IV that won at Le Mans in 1967. About two hundred 2017 and 2018 cars were recalled for a possible hydraulic leak and fire risk. The Ford GT was a mid engine two seat sports car, styled in the spirit of the GT40 racing car of the 1960s. Ford sold it in small numbers to collectors, and it was built by specialist firms under contract rather than at Ford's own assembly plants.
