Production of the second generation Ford GT began in December 2016, at a rate of about one car a day at the Multimatic low volume facility in Markham, Ontario. The 2017 car had a twin turbo 3.5 litre V6 of 647 horsepower and a Competition Series, and a Heritage Edition in black for the 1966 Le Mans winner. Ford sold it in small numbers to collectors, and it was built by specialist firms under contract rather than at Ford's own assembly plants.
