The Taurus X of 2008 and 2009 was the Freestyle with a mid cycle revision, renamed after Alan Mulally brought back the Taurus name for the sedan, with a 3.5 litre V6 and a six speed automatic. Sales fell after the renaming, and it was withdrawn after the 2009 model year. Its model years run from 2008 to 2009. The Freestyle was a seven seat crossover built on the D3 platform, a revised version of the Volvo P2 platform, at Chicago Assembly.
