From 2007 the SEL became the base trim of the Freestyle, as the SE was dropped. The Limited stayed at the top of the line, with heated power seats, leather in the first and second rows and vinyl on the third row bench. It was assembled at Chicago Assembly with the Five Hundred. It shared its platform with the Five Hundred and the Mercury Montego, and no Lincoln Mercury version was ever built. The Freestyle was a seven seat crossover built on the D3 platform, a revised version of the Volvo P2 platform, at Chicago Assembly.
