The second generation Focus was launched at the Paris Motor Show on 25 September 2004, so 2004 was the last year of the first generation in Europe. In North America, where the first generation continued until 2007, the 2004 model year made the new 2.3 liter Duratec four cylinder available nationwide, gave the ZX3 leather seats, fitted new steering knuckles and struts for a better ride, and discontinued the optional electronic stability control.
