For the 2003 model year the North American ZX5 became available in three trim levels, and heated front seats and heated mirrors became options, along with traction control and an ABS package. Ford also introduced a Centennial Edition of the Focus in celebration of the company's hundredth anniversary. Interior noise was reduced and the base engine's throttle was recalibrated. The ZX3 and ZX5 also got a CD and MP3 player as standard equipment.
