The history of the third generation says major changes were introduced to the Fiesta range in 1993. The car kept its 3 door hatchback, 5 door hatchback and panel van forms and the semi independent torsion beam rear suspension of the BE-13 platform. By 1993 the car was in the middle of what would be the longest production life of any Fiesta up to that time, having been introduced in 1989. Those changes came about four years after launch.
