The Fiesta RS Turbo, a performance model, was introduced in April 1990 and built until 1992. Based on the XR2i, it had 14 inch alloy wheels, green stripes, a color coded rear spoiler, bonnet louvres, anti-lock brakes and Recaro seats, and a 1.6 liter CVH engine with a Garrett turbocharger at 8 psi and an intercooler. Reviewers criticized its handling and steering. From late September 1990 the Fiesta van was also offered with a 1.4 liter catalyzed central injection engine.
