The facelifted Fiesta for the European market was introduced at the Paris Motor Show in late September 2012, though it went on sale only in 2013. It was the first Fiesta with Ford's new corporate front end and its trapezoidal grille, which would later appear on the Focus, Fusion and Mustang. Similar updates were introduced in other markets. The sixth generation had been on sale since 2008, so the facelift came in its fourth year. It was presented as an update of the existing car rather than a new design.
