1984 Ford Fiesta

Automobiles

Two new Fiesta versions appeared in 1984. The XR2 was updated with a larger body kit and a 1.6 liter CVH engine making 96 horsepower, as in the Escort XR3, with a five speed manual gearbox. A 1.6 liter diesel was also introduced, taking advantage of the wider engine compartment; critics found it noisy and rough, though its fuel economy was impressive. The old 1.3 liter OHV engine was replaced that year by a CVH unit of the same capacity.
