The Mk2 Fiesta arrived in late August 1983, with a reworked front end and interior and, most visibly, new wraparound headlights. The front chassis structure was widened so that a five speed transmission and the new CVH engines could fit, which also increased the front track by 33 millimeters, and the brakes and steering were altered. It was available as a 3-door hatchback and as a panel van. The Mk1 it replaced had been on sale since 1976.
