The Ghia X was added in 1996 as the range topper in Britain, and the Fiesta became Britain's best selling car, a position it held from 1996 to 1998. The Ford Ka of 1996 shared its platform with the Mark IV Fiesta, though it was derived from it. Lower specification Fiestas used the last evolution of the long running Valencia engine, now named Endura-E, in 1.0 and 1.3 liter forms. The British trim line up at launch in 1995 had been Encore, LX, Si and Ghia.
