For the 1980 model year Ford offered a sporting version in Europe, the 1.3 Supersport, which used the 1.3 liter Kent Crossflow engine and was effectively a test of the market for the XR2 that followed a year later. The Supersport had black plastic trim, and its small square headlights were replaced by larger round ones, with the front indicators moved into the bumper. The 1980 model year was also the last of the United States Fiesta, sold from 1978.
