A saloon version of the Fiesta was introduced in Brazil and Argentina in late 2004. That car was a notchback body added to the fifth generation range, aimed at South American buyers who preferred a three box shape, while the rest of the world continued with the three and five door hatchbacks. Asia and Australasia were offered only 1.6 liter cars, in LX, Zetec or Ghia trim, and it was the first time the Fiesta was marketed in those regions, where it replaced the Festiva.
