The 2015 F-150 was the first aluminum intensive vehicle produced on a large scale by an American maker. It marked several design departures: the rectangular grille took a trapezoidal shape flanked by C shaped headlamp units, and LED headlights were used for the first time. For 2015 the lineup was consolidated, with the Raptor withdrawn until 2017 and the Tremor and Harley-Davidson special editions discontinued, and the STX, FX2 and FX4 no longer separate trims.
