The Escort van stayed in production at Halewood until October 2002, when it was replaced by the Transit Connect. Escort based light vans had been offered since 1968, and the panel van was the last form of the European Escort. The van's end also marks the end of the Escort name in the European range, after the passenger models had ended in 2000. Outside Europe the hatchback and estate continued to be made in Argentina.
