By 2001 the passenger Escort was no longer being built in Europe, but remaining stock was sold into the year, making it the last season in which new European built Escort hatchbacks and estates could be bought. The panel van version continued to be produced at Halewood behind the Jaguar plant, and Argentina still made the hatchback and estate, which were sold alongside the Focus during the final stages of production there.
