Production of the North American Edge ended on 26 April 2024, without a direct successor, closing the second generation after the 2015 redesign. The third generation Edge, called the Edge L, launched in 2023 and is produced and sold exclusively in China. The Oakville plant had built the first two generations, along with the Lincoln Nautilus, and the Edge had been the first mid size crossover Ford sold in North America from 2007.
