On 11 January 2021 Ford announced it would shutter three production plants in Brazil as part of cost saving measures, and as a result production of the EcoSport in Brazil was ceased at immediate effect, with the car discontinued in Brazil alongside the Ka and Troller T4. The EcoSport would still be sold in Europe, built at the facility in Romania. It shared its platform with the Fiesta throughout its existence. The EcoSport was a subcompact crossover SUV based on the Fiesta B2E platform, designed at the Ford Brazil Development Center.
