The standard engine on all other full size Ford sedans and wagons was the 351 Windsor V8, but the Country Squire came standard with the Cleveland 400M V8 in 1977, while the 385 series 429 and 460 V8s were optional. The 1977 Country Squire was nearly identical to the 1975 and 1976 models except for small differences in trim and emblems, and was the longest and heaviest station wagon Ford produced. The Country Squire was the top level Ford station wagon, distinguished by woodgrain bodyside trim.
