The 1985 Country Squire continued the downsized eighth generation as the counterpart of the LTD Crown Victoria, with the 4.9 litre V8 with throttle body fuel injection and the 5.8 litre Windsor V8 as an option, in simulated woodgrain trim with eight passenger seating. Sales of full size station wagons were declining as buyers shifted to minivans and sport utility vehicles such as the Aerostar. The Country Squire was the top level Ford station wagon, distinguished by woodgrain bodyside trim.
