The 1981 Country Squire was the redesigned, downsized station wagon introduced for 1979, with a 302 or 351 Windsor V8, eight passenger seating and simulated woodgrain trim, sharing its basic body with the LTD sedan. Its Mercury counterpart was the Colony Park, which had moved to the Grand Marquis line in 1979, and the Country Squire sold in far smaller numbers than the larger wagons of the 1970s. The Country Squire was the top level Ford station wagon, distinguished by woodgrain bodyside trim.
