In March 1975 Ford introduced the John Player Special, a limited edition known as the JPS, available only in black or white. It had gold pinstriping to imitate the Formula 1 livery, gold coloured wheels and a special upgraded interior in beige cloth and carpet trimmed with black. The Capri II was by then mechanically similar to the Mark I, with the Pinto engines and the large rectangular headlamps of its predecessor.
