The Australian built A494A Anglias of 1949 to 1953 shared the frontal styling and 2,300 millimetre wheelbase chassis of their British E494A counterparts, produced as four door saloon, two door tourer, coupe utility and roadster utility models, all with running boards. The 933 cc engine was initially the only one offered, but the 1172 cc engine became available from 1950. The A494A tourer was the cheapest new car on the Australian market.
