Think City

Automobiles

The Think City, stylised TH!NK City, is a small electric city car, a two-seater or 2+2-seater capable of highway speeds, with a top speed of 110 kilometres per hour and an all-electric range of 160 kilometres. Known as the Pivco PIV4 as a prototype, it was first built from 2000 to 2002 by Ford's Norwegian subsidiary TH!NK, which Ford had bought in 1999 ahead of the California zero-emission vehicle mandate; when the rules were relaxed Ford ended production in 2002 after 1,005 cars and sold the company the following year. More than 370 went to North America, mostly leased in station-car trials in California and New York. A second generation was produced from 2008 to 2012 by Think Global with Valmet Automotive in Finland, with a 24 kilowatt-hour battery and a 34 kilowatt three-phase induction motor, and with assembly in Elkhart, Indiana, from November 2010. About 2,500 cars had been made by October 2010. Production in Finland stopped in March 2011, Think Global went bankrupt in June 2011 and production never resumed.
