Jeep Treo

Automobiles

The Jeep Treo was an electric concept car that Chrysler produced under its Jeep brand and launched at the 2003 Tokyo Motor Show. Designed for the young urban driver in Asia, it had three seats and an integral provision for carrying two mountain bikes in a near-teardrop body inspired by anime concepts. The Chrysler Advanced Product Design Center in California designed it under a team led by Freeman Thomas, who pitched it as the ultimate student car. Two electric motors, one on each axle, gave four-wheel drive and were fed by a hydrogen fuel cell under the floor, while a production version was to use hybrid petrol-electric drive. It was envisaged for production in 2008, but the single prototype remained a one-off.
