The Pacer was a step up from the basic Ranger in 1958, with contoured seat backs, nylon upholstery, color keyed rubber floor mats and extra stainless steel trim. It rode on Ford's 118 inch wheelbase with a 303 horsepower 361 cubic inch V8 as standard and a three speed manual, and buyers could upgrade to a three speed automatic or the trouble prone Teletouch. A heater cost 92 dollars and a radio 95. Output was 20,988 units, among the best sellers of the year, and the Pacer was dropped for 1959.
