A 3 speed automatic transmission became available with the V6 engine in 1992. For 1992 the Turbo Blade wheel was introduced on the Spirit ES and R/T, replacing the Eurocast wheels used through 1991. The R/T, offered in 1991 and 1992, was the sportier, higher performing version of the Spirit, and the Spirit was assembled at Newark Assembly in Delaware and at Toluca in Mexico. It was a four door sedan.
