A convertible version of the Shadow debuted in 1991, the same year the hatchback base submodel was split into the entry level America, or S in Canadian market versions, and the mid level Highline submodels. The Plymouth Sundance did not receive a convertible. For 1991 Chrysler built the Dodge Shadow at Sterling Heights Assembly, and 1991 was also the last year in which the Chrysler ES was offered in Europe.
