The Shadow and Sundance received a facelift in 1989, with the sealed beam headlamps discarded in favor of more aerodynamic composite units. All new grilles and tail lights were among the changes as well. For 1989 the 2.2 liter engine of the European Chrysler ES was replaced by the larger 2.5 liter unit. The Shadow was built at Sterling Heights Assembly in Michigan, with the Mexican Chrysler Shadow built at Toluca.
