Dodge revived the Monaco name for 1990 after a twelve year gap, replacing the long running Diplomat sedan as the first full size Dodge sedan since the 1981 St. Regis. It was a rebadged Eagle Premier developed by American Motors and Renault, sold to help fill the Bramalea plant and meet Chrysler's contract to use PRV V6 engines, and it came in standard LE and deluxe ES trims with a French built three liter V6 and four wheel disc brakes.
