The facelift model appeared for the 1987 model year, presented in late September 1986. The lowest priced model was the E, for economy, followed by the DL and topped by the turbocharged but slow selling Premier and GTS Turbo models. In 1987 the turbocharged engine became an option for the Colt. The Dodge Colt was a subcompact manufactured by Mitsubishi Motors and marketed by Dodge as a captive import.
