The Rover 200 Coupé is a two-door coupé that Rover launched at the Paris Motor Show on 6 October 1992, built on the Rover 200 Mark II with its own body panels and bumpers and developed under the project name Tomcat. It had a split glass roof with a removable central T-bar, a four seat interior in burr walnut and optional leather, and a Torsen torque sensing differential on the faster versions. At launch there was a Honda 1.6 litre engine in the 216 and Rover 2.0 litre T-Series engines in the 220 and 220 Turbo, which with 200 PS and a top speed of 150 miles per hour was the fastest production Rover built. In 1996 the car was renamed the Rover Coupé and took the Rover K-Series 1.6 litre and the 1.8 litre VVC engine. About 330 Turbo cars went to Japan in 1995, a Tomcat race series ran for two years, and production ceased in 1998.
