Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class C209

Automobiles

The C209 and A209 are the second generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class grand tourers, produced between 2001 and 2009 as a two-door coupe and a two-door convertible. The production coupe was unveiled at the 2002 Geneva Motor Show and, unlike the first generation, has no B pillar. The convertible was shown at Geneva in 2003, built by Karmann in Osnabruck until production moved to Bremen in 2004, and it was the last complete car Karmann made before closing the plant. The platform comes from the W203 C-Class, with rack-and-pinion steering and a three-link front suspension. A 3.2 litre V6, 5.0 and 5.4 litre V8s and a 2.7 litre five-cylinder diesel were offered at launch. The E-Class coupe replaced it in 2010.
