Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class C208

Automobiles

The C208 is the first generation of the Mercedes-Benz CLK-Class, a two-door grand touring car with two variants: a coupe produced at Bremen from 1997 until 2002 and a convertible, coded A208, assembled by Karmann in Osnabruck from 1998 until 2003. It was based on the W202 C-Class platform launched three years earlier but borrowed components and looks from the W210 E-Class, and it replaced the two-door variants of the W124. In all 233,367 coupes and 115,161 convertibles were built. The first models were the CLK 200 and CLK 230 Kompressor with four-cylinder engines, and a CLK 320 with a 3.2 litre V6 followed. The CLK 55 AMG carried a 5.4 litre V8. The C209 succeeded it in 2002.
