The Lancia Aurelia is a car manufactured and marketed by the Italian company Lancia from 1950 to the summer of 1958 over six series, offered as a four-door saloon, a two-door cabriolet, a two-door GT coupe, a spider and a rolling chassis for coachbuilders. It is noted for one of the first series-production V6 engines, a 60 degree all-alloy design developed by Francesco de Virgilio under engineer Vittorio Jano that grew from 1.8 to 2.5 litres. It also had a rear transaxle, inboard rear drum brakes and sliding pillar front suspension, and it was the first car fitted with radial tyres as standard. Like later Lancias it was named after a Roman road, the Via Aurelia from Rome to Pisa, and the 1962 film Il Sorpasso made the B24 convertible famous.
