Jaguar XK (X150)

Automobiles

The Jaguar XK, project code X150, is the second and final generation of the XK 2+2 grand tourer made by Jaguar Cars. The three-door fastback coupé debuted at the 2005 Frankfurt Motor Show with the 4.2-litre V8 engine of its predecessor, and the two-door convertible followed in 2006 at the North American International Auto Show, with production beginning in early 2006. Its design by Ian Callum, who also drew the Aston Martin DB7 and Vanquish, was completed in 2002 and previewed by the Advanced Lightweight Coupé shown in 2005; the Sayer nose recalls the XP/11 prototype of 1953 and the D-type, and the grille badge recalls the E-type. It has a bonded and riveted all-aluminium monocoque construction. A facelift in 2009 brought a new 5.0-litre V8, the XKR-S of 2011 produced 405 kilowatts, and production ended in July 2014 without a replacement, marked by a Final Fifty edition of which only 50 were sold, all in the United States.
