Ghia Brezza

Automobiles

The Ghia Brezza, whose name means breeze in Italian, is a concept car commissioned by Ford and built by Carrozzeria Ghia on the chassis of Ford's EXP two seater coupe. In 1982 Ford shipped two EXP chassis to its Ghia studio in Turin with instructions to make a mid engined car as a possible answer to the Pontiac P-car that became the Fiero. Designer Marilena Corvasce made it the first car designed from start to finish by a woman, which earned it the Historic Vehicle Association's HVA Heritage Award. It debuted at the 1982 Turin Auto Show, appeared on the cover of Popular Mechanics in 1985, and never reached production. The body is an aerodynamic exercise with flush windows and skirted rear wheels and has a drag coefficient of 0.30, powered by the EXP's 1.6 litre Ford CVH engine making 71 hp, later a supercharged 1.8 litre.
