The Lancia Beta Spider was a two door open sports car with a removable targa roof, a fixed roll bar and a folding fabric hood over the rear seats, sold by Lancia from 1974 to 1982 and known in the United States as the Lancia Zagato. It was a member of the Beta family and was derived from the Beta Coupé, whose bodywork Pininfarina turned into an open car while keeping the front end, bonnet, front wings and windscreen. The engines were reworked Fiat twin cam fours designed by Aurelio Lampredi, in 1.6, 1.8 and 2.0 litre sizes, with the 1.8 offered only in the first model year. European cars all had carburettors and a five speed manual gearbox. A little over 9,300 were built, which made it, after the mid engined Beta Montecarlo, the least common member of the Beta family. Apart from the Chrysler based Flavia of 2010 it was the last open Lancia.
