The Jaguar XK 180 was a concept car created by Jaguar Cars to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the XK car and to show the skills of its stylists, craftsmen and engineers, and it was presented at the Paris Motor Show in 1998. Designed by Jaguar's Special Vehicle Operations over ten months, it took inspiration from the C-Type and D-Type of the 1950s, and its handcrafted aluminium body was built by the Coventry firm Abbey Panels. It had a 4.0 litre supercharged V8 with four valves per cylinder developing 450 bhp, driving the rear wheels through a Mercedes five-speed automatic controlled by buttons on the steering wheel. Jaguar claimed 180 mph, never tested, and 0 to 100 km/h in 4.5 seconds. Two were built, one right-hand drive and one left-hand drive, both roadsters, and its suspension came from the XKR with the CATS handling pack.
