The Chrysler Falcon was a two-seat roadster concept car that Chrysler commissioned and Carrozzeria Ghia built for the 1955 model year. It was never put into production, though some of its features reappeared on later Chrysler designs: the egg-crate grille on the 1957 to 1959 Chrysler 300 and the side exhaust pipes on the 1960 Plymouth XNR and the 1992 Dodge Viper. Often described as Chrysler's answer to the Ford Thunderbird and Chevrolet Corvette, it debuted on 17 August 1955 and at least two were built. It had a unitary chassis, weighed 3,300 pounds, and used a 331 cubic inch FirePower or a 276 cubic inch Firedome V8 with a two-speed PowerFlite automatic.
