From 1995 the name Civic was dropped and the car was sold as the Honda del Sol. In Japan the VXi trim came only with a 1.5 liter SOHC VTEC, and the VGi, which was Japan's version of the European ESi 1.6 liter SOHC VTEC, took the place of the VXi. In the US the targa top seals were redesigned to help prevent leakage, anti lock brakes were added on the VTEC trim, and a remote trunk release, a low fuel light and a new alloy wheel design were added. Honda swapped Captiva blue pearl and Samba green pearl for isle green pearl and paradise blue-green pearl in 1995.
