In North America the first generation Tracker was sold as a Chevrolet in 1998 after General Motors discontinued the Geo brand. In 1999 the Sidekick was discontinued and a second generation Tracker was introduced, differing from the Sidekick's successor, the Grand Vitara, with a Suzuki version sold in North America as the Suzuki Vitara. Its model years run from 1998 to 2004. The second generation was sold in Latin America as the Chevrolet Grand Vitara, with Suzuki versions in other markets.
