In North America the first generation Tracker was sold as a Chevrolet in 1998 after General Motors discontinued the Geo brand. In Mexico the Geo Tracker had been sold since 1994, imported from Canada, dropped in 1996, and was back in 1998 from Canada as the Chevrolet Tracker as a three door soft top or five door hard top. The production of the first generation in Ontario came to an end after 1998.
