A hybrid version of the Tahoe and Yukon, using the shared GM and Chrysler Advanced Hybrid System 2, followed with the 2008 models, introduced with two trim levels, HY1 and HY2, and it made its hybrid electric debut in late 2007 at a starting price of 50,540 dollars in January 2008. This variant was named the Green Car of the Year for 2008 by Green Car Journal, a decision later lampooned on the BBC series Top Gear.
