On December 10, 2019 Chevrolet introduced the twelfth generation Suburban at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit, with the GMC Yukon XL following on January 14, 2020, and the Cadillac Escalade ESV last. Production was postponed to July 13, 2020 by the COVID-19 recession and the Suburban began entering dealerships in August 2020. It is based on the GMT T1XX platform of the Silverado but has an independent rear suspension. Its model years run from 2021 to 2026.
