The 2021 Suburban was based on the same GMT T1XX platform as the Silverado 1500 but swapped that truck's live axle and leaf springs for an independent rear multilink suspension with coil springs. It expanded to 225.7 inches in length with a 134.1 inch wheelbase, and was available as the LS, LT, Premier, Z71, RST and the new High Country, with a Duramax 3.0 liter inline six diesel as an option for the first time.
