Suburbans were built in the model years 1941, 1942 and 1946, so 1942 was the second of only three model years of the second generation. They were also produced during World War II as a military transport vehicle. The Chevrolet versions had a 216 cubic inch six, the GMC versions a 228 cubic inch six, and they shared much of their mechanicals with the AK Series trucks. Seating for up to eight occupants was available.
