The Blazer and Jimmy received a new 4.3 liter V6 option for 1988, also used with the S-10 and S-15 pickups, the Astro and Safari vans, the G series vans and the C/K 1500 and 2500 trucks. The V6 had been refitted with a throttle body fuel injection system for 1986 to improve performance and fuel economy, and the 1.9 liter, 2.0 liter gasoline and 2.2 liter diesel engines were dropped after 1984. The 1988 Blazer was a two door SUV with a new V6.
